The album produced The BEPs’ first major success, the single 'Where Is the Love?' which topped the charts in several countries and became the biggest-selling single of 2003. Besides the introduction of Fergie this album was also the first to be released under the name “THE Black Eyed Peas” demonstrating a new polished pop sound. Current member Stacy Ferguson, aka “Fergie,” joined the group and was first featured on the BEP’s third album “Elephunk” released in 2003. Their second album was “Bridging the Gap”, which was released in 2000, produced the hit 'Request + Line' featuring Macy Gray. The group released their debut album, “Behind the Front” in 1998 after being signed to “Interscope Records”. The group differentiated themselves from other hip-hop groups by opting to play with a live band and a wardrobe unique and different from the predominant Gangsta Rap scene. After Eazy-E’s death, the group renamed themselves “Black Eyed Pods,” and then “Black Eyed Peas.” The group’s members also changed as Dante Santiago was replaced with Jaime Gomez aka Taboo, and Kim Hill became a steady background singer. The group’s album “Grass Roots” was not released due to the death of Eazy-E who had signed will.i.am and apl.de.ap to Ruthless Records and created the group. Mookie Mook, DJ Motiv8, aka Monroe Walker, also join the group. ![]() William Adams (will.i.am) and Allan Pineda (apl.de.ap) along with a mutual friend, Dante Santiago, form the group “Atban Klann”, ATBAN stands for: A Tribe Beyond a Nation.
